25 participants from different backgrounds and countries will come together to gain knowledge of the tools, techniques, and methodologies used in the process of new product development (NPD) in the food industry. After eight days of not only listening, but also experiencing the practical application of these tools and techniques in a simulated environment, our participants will be ready to initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control the projects aimed at the development and marketing of new products and services, as well as to introduce innovations to the market in the food industry.
The Summer School is an international event. All communication will be in English. Participants are expected to be fluent in English.
The EIT Food Summer School on NPD does not charge a tuition fee!

Who are we?
Our team

dr Magdalena Marczewska
Magdalena Marczewska, project leader, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Management, University of Warsaw. Specializes in innovation and technology management, as well as project management, with the focus on environmental technologies. Participant of research projects commissioned by the Polish Ministry of Environment, European Commission, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Polish Patent Office and the National Science Centre (NCN, Poland). Beneficiary of numerous international exchange programs, among others, at the University of Kentucky, London School of Economics and Political Science, University of Padova, University of Ferrara and Lund University.

Prof. Christopher L. Tucci
Christopher L. Tucci is a Professor of Management of Technology at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), where he holds the Chair in Corporate Strategy & Innovation. He has received the degrees of Ph.D. in Management from the Sloan School of Management, MIT; SM (Technology & Policy) from MIT; and BS (Mathematical Sciences), AB (Music), and MS (Computer Science) from Stanford University. Professor Tucci joined EPFL in 2003 where he teaches courses in Design Thinking, Information Technology Strategy, Innovation Management, and Research Methods. His primary areas of interest are business models, open innovation, crowdsourcing, and dynamic capabilities. In 2010, he was elected to the leadership track of the SMS’ Strategy & Entrepreneurship Interest Group. In 2013, he was elected to the AOM’s Board of Governors.

Lidia Gonzalez Marcos
Lidia is a project manager expert at Quaker, PepsiCo, with a great love for innovation in the food & drink industry. She leads new product development of global projects contributing to the Grains strategy programme. A passionate innovator she has 7 years of experience delivering successful new products in over 15 different markets around the world. She enables the pipeline by working with cross functional teams to efficiently translate concepts into successful products for the lead markets. She has an extensive background with different technologies and brands demonstrating strength in the areas of creative and innovative thinking, problem solving and ability to quickly adapt to any given task. Lidia holds BCs in Human Nutrition degree and a MCs Food Science & technology with follow up qualifications in product development and management.

Tomasz Cywiński
Tomasz Cywinski, is an experienced Project Manager and active practitioner holding several certifications (PMP®, PRINCE2®, AgilePM®, M_o_R®, P3O®, MoP®, ITIL®). He has been involved in the development of project management communities as well as conducting lectures and workshops for students and organizations of different types and size. On a daily basis, Tomasz delivers global IT infrastructure projects, and cooperates with various teams across the globe.

Prof. Yale T. Herer
Yale T. Herer, B.S. (1986), M.S. (1990), Ph.D. (1990), Cornell University, Department of Operations Research and Industrial Engineering. Yale is currently an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Management at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. He has worked for several industrial concerns, both as a consultant and as an advisor to project groups. Yale is a member of the Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences (INFORMS) and the Operations Research Society of Israel (ORSIS). He currently serves as vice president of ORSIS. Yale’s research interest can be broadly defined as covering Production Planning and Control. More recently Yale has focused his research on the area of Supply Chain Management, especially when integrated with transshipments or other responsive operational activities.

Guy Shtub
Guy Shtub is a Director at SandboxModel. He received his Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering from Ben Gurion University Faculty of Engineering and the Department of Computer Science. Guy has worked as software engineer since 2006. He co-founded the start-up ‘Whitebox Security’ prior to founding Sandboxmodel.

Michał Joachimiak
Michał Joachimiak, Category Manager (Marketing), Business Food Unit Maspex, is currently responsible for the multi-category brand Łowicz. He has almost 18 years’ experience in food marketing (confectionery, preserves), managing both local and global food brands such as: Lion, Nestle, Princessa, Goplana, Krakus, Łowicz. He has successfully launched numerous innovations in companies like Nestle, Agros Nova and Maspex. Michal is a graduate from A. Mickiewicz University, Poznań, Marketing and Management Faculty.

Prof. Avraham Shtub
Professor Avraham Shtub holds the Stephen and Sharon Seiden Chair in Project Management. He has a B.Sc in Electrical Engineering from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (1974), an MBA from Tel Aviv University (1978) and a Ph.D in Management Science and Industrial Engineering from the University of Washington (1982). His books on Project Management were published in English, Hebrew, Greek and Chinese. He is the recipient of the 2008 Project Management Institute Professional Development Product of the Year Award for the training simulator “Project Team Builder – PTB”. He has been a consultant to industry in the areas of project management, training by simulators and the design of production – operation systems. He was invited to speak at special seminars on Project Management and Operations in Europe, the Far East, North America, South America and Australia.

The Summer School is free of charge. The summer school includes free coffee/tea and lunches.
The EIT Food Summer School on NPD does not charge a tuition fee.
Travel and accommodation costs are not covered. Although, you have to make travel and accommodation arrangements yourself, we are happy to support you with accommodation search if needed.

All participants will receive a certificate at the end of EIT Food Summer School.
The Summer School is an international event. All communication will be in English.
1. To apply for the EIT Food Summer School, you must be at least 18 years of age, when submitting your application and consider yourself a food sector professional.
2. By applying, you agree to be available to travel to Warsaw within 12 hours before the start of the EIT Food Summer School. If you need to make other arrangements, these need to be approved beforehand by the EIT Food Summer School organizers.
3. During the program, the following costs are covered for all participants:
- EIT Food Summer School tuition fee, including free coffee/tea and lunches.
You are responsible for covering any additionally occurring costs that are not mentioned here (e.g. travel, accommodation, any activity engaged in during free-time, etc.).
4. You are expected to attend and participate in all program activities organized by the EIT Food Summer School team during the program period.
5. In order to guarantee fluid and cooperative communication among the teams and other stakeholders, you agree to the distribution of relevant professional data from your CV/LinkedIn to other parties involved in the project (such as corporate partners, other participants, coaches, etc.). This information will be handled in accordance with Polish data protection procedures.
6. You are asked to treat any non-public knowledge you gain about the other involved parties (e.g. speakers or corporate partners) with confidentiality. This commitment shall continue following the end of the program.
7. As part of our project marketing, you acknowledge that the EIT Food Summer School has the right to use all promotional materials, including but not limited to photographs, videos and testimonials made during the workshop weeks for future communication activities.
8. The EIT Food Summer School is not responsible for:
- The safety of the participants during events and activities during the program.
- Damage to the property of a participant or damage caused by a participant to the property of the EIT Food Summer School organizers and third parties.
- Other damages, losses, liability or injury arising out of or in any way connected with the EIT Food Summer School program.
9. Should you accept a place in the EIT Food Summer School and fail thereafter to attend and fully participate in the activities, you agree to be responsible for any upcoming costs. This excludes cases of force majeure or illness, which will be reviewed by the EIT Food Summer School management on a case-by-case basis.
10. The candidates submitted to EIT Food Summer School project are handled under confidentiality. Everybody that comes in contact with the candidates during the recruitment process is bound by confidentiality agreements.
11. EIT Food Summer School participants retain full and exclusive ownership of their intellectual property rights. The organizers and their authorized representatives in the project undertake to ensure the confidentiality of the ideas and projects presented and developed throughout the course.
