Jointly with researchers from Japan and China, Krzysztof Klincewicz performed a comparative international analysis of sectoral innovation systems in the software industry. The research was carried out at the Tokyo Institute of Technology (Titech). It involved among others bibliometric analysis of computer science research publications from multiple countries, outlining their competitive advantages and weaknesses and calculating RTA (revealed technological advantage) indices. The project involved also the mapping of international technology-based partnerships of the largest IT companies in several countries, as well as comparison of business models used by companies to benefit from the commercialization of open source software. The research project resulted in numerous publications and conference presentations, including articles in the Asian Journal of Technology Innovation (2006) and in the International Journal of Technology Management (2011).
