EIT Food

RIS Fellowships Action Line

Develop your talent with top agri-food players during a paid internship in the EU!

About the project

45 masters, PhD students and graduates with different educational backgrounds from EIT RIS countries will discover job opportunities in the food industry by getting unique, professional, paid, 3-6 months internships within the EIT Food RIS Fellowships AL framework. Additionally, technicians and vocational students from Poland, Spain and Italy will benefit from paid 1-2 months apprenticeships.

The Action Line is divided into 2 core programs – RIS Fellowships dedicated to Master of Science students and graduates and RIS Talents dedicated to PhD students and postdocs, which both aim to promote brain circulation, contributing to enhancing the innovativeness of personnel and development of scientific impact by supporting the creation and diffusion of high-quality new knowledge, competences and solutions to food system challenges. Moreover, in 2022 AL will be enriched with the RIS Youth pilot program dedicated to technicians and vocational students, which aims to offer on-the-job training to teach young people who enter the labour market the basic, practical work-related skills and competencies expected by the modern food industry.

Invitation to competencies development workshops

We are happy to share with you information about new series of online workshops that will be available for free in November 2022 under RIS 4Ukraine program. We want to support Ukrainian students in competencies development by involving them in targeted exercises, gaining additional knowledge and changing their attitudes to communication, critical thinking and problem-solving.

During three meetings, Marta Filipiak, an experienced trainer and development manager, will familiarise you with issues related to developing communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

1st COMPETENCY DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP: COMMUNICATION

Communication is one of the three future competencies we will work on with you. Thanks to developing personal communication skills to the level where information can be conveyed efficiently and effectively, you will increase your interaction with corporates and improve teamwork, decision-making, and problem-solving skills in new work environments.

This workshop aims to help you develop your communication strengths and grab interesting techniques to add to your existing skill set. After three – hours course, you as a participant will gain more self-confidence and effectiveness in communication, will be able to cooperate more efficiently even in the face of difficulties and will create the space for good quality communication in your teams.

Workshop date: 21st November, 2022, 5pm CEST

2nd COMPETENCY DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP: CRITICAL THINKING

This workshop will introduce you to critical thinking and how to apply it to your everyday life. During the workshop, you will explore key definitions of critical thinking. Moreover, we will provide the tools to analyse and adequately understand the problem. After three hours of the course, you will know how to develop ideas and formulate good plans. In addition, you will know what can affect and bias your judgement and how to deal with it. These essential skills presented and trained during the workshop develop your ability to identify and respond to needs based on understanding situational context and logical analysis of relevant information. Gain more self-awareness about your decision-making process to plan more efficiently and achieve better results in a timely and foreseeable manner.

Workshop date: 24th November, 2022, 5pm CEST

3rd COMPETENCY DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP: PROBLEM-SOLVING

Creative problem-solving is increasingly recognised as the most sought-after skill in business. During the online workshop, we will share knowledge about what kind of conflicts and challenges you may face in cooperation with people and how you can manage conflicts and challenges. Entrepreneurs, employees, managers, and leaders must find valuable opportunities, generate and develop new ideas and then trial and implement innovative solutions.

Through the course, you will apply a structured process to identifying problems and generating wide-ranging solutions to boost your “out of the box” thinking and develop innovatively and possibly implement solutions. Boost your creativity and become more flexible to meet goals, deliver value and fulfil needs even if things get complicated.

Workshop date: 29th November, 2022, 5pm CEST

The series of competences development workshops is a part of the RIS4Ukraine program, conducted under the EIT Food RIS Fellowships AL framework. EIT Food is supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and co-funded by the European Union.

NOTE: Workshops are dedicated to Ukrainian students. However, all RIS citizens are welcome to join if free places are available.

  • In case of on-line internship – to customise the internship workplace at their homes using all that is needed to use electronic means of communication during remote work, i.e. quality computer equipment (like a computer, keyboard, mouse, headphones, speakers, etc. – adequate to the tasks during the internship, in-line with the safety and security regulations), to cover costs related to its installation, service, operation and maintenance, technical support and all necessary training to it, equipment insurance, improving or securing fast internet connection or all necessary software and applications or on-line services/subscriptions, financial support should enable the proper organisation of a workplace meeting the hygiene & ergonomics requirements (like an ergonomic chair, footrest, desk, workplace lighting, etc.)

Due to the fact that the costs in each mode are different, EIT Food RIS Fellowships Action Line offers the following division of financial support.

 Fellowships (master/bachelor students):

  1. Stationary mode – 1500,00 EUR per month
  2. On-line – 800,00 EUR per month

Talents (doctoral students):

  1. Stationary mode – 2000,00 EUR per month
  2. On-line mode – 950,00 EUR per month

In Hybrid mode, financial support would be given pro-rata according to the time spent on each form of an internship. We allow the possibility of changing the internship mode during the internship.

In this case, the costs will be calculated accordingly (part of the month in on-line mode, the rest in stationary mode). The financial support will be paid in monthly instalments after the host company representative will confirm that the internship goes according to plan. The financial support will be paid after each of the completed internship months. The financial support might be a subject of taxation depending on the legal requirements applying to the sides of the grant agreements. Worth to highlight is that the payment for the internship is made monthly in arrears.

The payment for the internship is made monthly in arrears. After you finish the first full month of internship your Mentor will inform us that you filled your obligations. After that it will take up to 30 days for the money to come on your account.

REMEMBER: IT IS UP TO 30 DAYS AFTER EACH FULL MONTH TO RECEIVE MONEY, BE PREPARED FINANCIALLY FOR THAT PERIOD

All workshop participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

All interns will receive written testimonials/feedback. If necessary for external arrangements (leave of absence at the University), interns may receive a letter of intentions from the project’s team and hosting company.

After approval by the host company and arranging the details of the internship (duration and internship mode), inform us about it by e-mail.

We will prepare a Consent Form for you, which is a document specifying all terms & conditions.

You will also be asked to issue the Tax Residency Certificate from your Tax Office.

Both documents you have to send by e-mail (scan) and a hard copy by post/courier.

During the internship, YOUR MENTOR will send us MONTHLY REPORTS as a confirmation that the internship goes according to a plan (Internship Agenda).

At the end of the internship, we will ask you and your Mentor to prepare an Internship Feedback as a document that will sum up all tasks and activities that you were responsible for. This is one fixed document that should be filled by Mentor and Fellow together.

Tax Residency Certificate (TRC) is a confirmation of the tax payer’s residency. This must be issued by the competent tax authorities of the associate’s country of your residence. Particularly, the tax certificate should state that the named natural or legal person is resident in said country for the purposes of The Double Taxation Convention that predicts preference conditions to pay withholding tax (lower withholding tax or exemption from this tax) by the taxpayer.

If you do not provide the certificate of residence, it shall be assumed that you failed to establish your residence in a way allowing the EIT Food Partner to apply the provisions of the relevant agreement on avoidance of double taxation or tax relieves. As a result, your remuneration, specified in the Intern Consent Form, is going to be deducted from the whole amount of the withholding tax that must be paid by the company. Submitting the certificate of tax residency to us may lead to the deduction of your remuneration only from a part of the withholding tax or avoidance of its deduction.

To sum up: If you provide us with a TRC, you will avoid double taxation. You will not pay any tax in Poland. We (our Partner CLC Nort-East Sp. z o.o., Poland) will transfer the full amount of your financial support to your bank account. After completing the internship, you will receive an IFT-1 document which is a “tax statement”, and you will settle tax only in your country.
